Goodbye, College: The Place I Complained About the Most, Yet I'll Miss Forever

3 min read

Four years.

When I first stepped into college, four years felt like an eternity. I couldn't wait for the day I'd finally graduate. And somehow... that day arrived much faster than I ever imagined.

Today was my last day at college.

It feels strange to even write that sentence.

I Complained About College... A Lot

If someone asked me throughout these four years about college, chances are I had something to complain about.

The 10 AM morning classes.

The endless assignments.

Attendance.

Exams.

Internal marks.

Project deadlines.

Strict rules.

I probably complained about my college hundreds of times. Every stressful week made me think,

"I just want this to end."

But today, while walking through the same corridors one last time, I found myself asking something I never expected...

Was it really that bad?

The answer is simple.

No.

It Was Never About the Buildings

The classrooms were just classrooms.

The benches were just benches.

The corridors were just corridors.

What made this place special were the people and the moments we created together.

The friends who slowly became family.

The teachers who guided us, even when we didn't realize it.

The canteen conversations that somehow lasted longer than the lectures.

The last-minute project submissions.

The practical classes.

The festivals.

The bunked lectures.

The random laughs for absolutely no reason.

Those ordinary moments have now become the memories I'll cherish the most.

We Never Realize It's the Last Time

Nobody tells you that one lecture will be your last.

Nobody tells you that one attendance will be your final attendance.

Nobody tells you that one walk across campus will be the last time you walk those familiar paths as a student.

Those moments just happen.

And only after they're gone do you realize how precious they really were.

The Campus Will Stay. We Won't.

Today, everything looked exactly the same.

The buildings.

The classrooms.

The playground.

The library.

The canteen.

Nothing had changed.

Except one thing.

Tomorrow, the campus will still be there...

But we won't.

And somehow, that's the hardest part.

Thank You for Everything

Life will now take each of us in different directions.

Some will continue their studies.

Some will begin their careers.

Some will move to different cities.

Some friendships will stay strong.

Some conversations will slowly fade.

But no matter where life takes us, these four years will always remain a part of who we are.

Looking back now, I don't think I'd change much.

Even the stressful days, the sleepless nights before exams, the endless assignments, and all the things I complained about became part of a journey that shaped me into the person I am today.

Goodbye, College

Thank you for every lesson.

Thank you for every failure that taught me something.

Thank you for every friendship.

Thank you for every laugh.

Thank you for every memory.

I spent four years wishing this day would come.

But now that it's finally here...

I wish I had just a little more time.

Some places don't feel special until it's time to leave them.

And maybe...

that's what home feels like. ❤️
